Re: [Kb-complexity] How much need they know?
Hi Folks, notwithstanding the choices of models and metaphors for the
complexity of human knowledge we as analysts / practicioners prefer to
use, there is a very important issue implicit in the title of this
thread.
How much need "THEY" know.
The balance of needing to explain the complexity of real situations vs
the comfort or attraction of simple causal metaphors is a matter of
"trust". It's pretty much analogous to debates between "freedom of
information" and "need to know basis". "Need to know" only works so
long as the recipients trust those filtering the information provided.
My point is that it's rarely a matter of people being unable to cope
with complex stories, just that life is too short (and just
complicated enough), for people to want to have to analyse every
aspect of life's complexities, if they don't have to.
